Game Design Workshop: "Phospho" game treatment

“Phospho” a game by Thomas Kearns, 1/27/09 this treatment was developed for Allen Turner's Game Design Workshop (Gam424) at DePaul's College of Computing and Digital Media. Someday when I have a bit more free time I look forward to flushing out the idea and potentially prototyping the gameplay to shop for a publisher ... any takers? idea we find our hero, and his big silly eyes, waking to darkness. Phospho, a nearly human (but clearly low tech) creature living in a subterranean community deep within the land, doesn't know it yet but he is about to embark on an enlightening journey to help bring the power of the sun back to his neighbors. Phospho's adventure plays out as an often silly, vertically climbing, platformer.

Game Design Workshop: Edge-pull game treatment

“GeoT.O.W.” or “Edge-pull” a game by Thomas Kearns, 1/12/08 this treatment was developed for Allen Turner's Game Design Workshop (Gam424) at DePaul's College of Computing and Digital Media. It is my intention to use this idea as the motivation for learning iPhone development upon completition of my degree this spring Idea A social network enabled, casual game, intended to catalyze team based local interaction and to foster a global community of participants. At it's heart, “edge-pull” is a simple game of tug-o-war, only this time the rope may stretch thousands of miles as the teams may be located on opposite sides of the globe. Simple and intuitive controls combine with entertaining strategic measures to enable rich active gameplay and socially networked experiences.
